Had my wrecking trip on Fri on Flamer 1V out of Weymouth and boy ain't things changed over the years all the lures (Redgiils + Shads) now have there own hook which is weighted so far less tangles on the drop sm_cry and with the Braid line you feel everything thats going on no more waitinig till the fish puts a bend on the rod Anyway we steamed out about 22 miles in sunshine and reasonably calm water with a bit of a ripple, the first wreck held a few cod which were a good size not like the Codling in the Thames over the winter but we moved of the wreck when the other boats appeared on the horizon the next 2 wrecks were mainly Pollock with the odd Cod and some Jumbo Pout We then had a few drifts for Ling with Bait instead of lures but it hard to get your gear back when you are using 100lb trace and 30lb mainline so when I ran out of heavy traces I put on an ordinary trace with a bit of Bling above the hook and had the only Ling on the boat on the last drift. My brothers were not amused when I started sing an old Chuck Berry song By early afternoon is was getting cold and rough so the option was stay with the wrecking or steam in for a try at the Red Band Fish so we steamed in And a bonus species
